The Client

The world’s largest publicly-traded REIT global leader in temperature-controlled warehousing and logistics, based in Australia. Americold owns and operates 249 facilities with 1.5 billion cubic feet of storage in North America, Europe, Australia, New Zealand and South America.

The Challenge

The client faced several challenges with their existing electrical panel and automation system. Since the chambers and tunnels were manually operated, it resulted in inconsistencies in temperature and process control, causing delays and product quality issues. Additionally, the lack of a monitoring system meant that there was no way to track and optimize performance.

The Solution

Our team provided an end-to-end solution to revamp the electrical panels and automate the machine room, chambers, and tunnels. We installed two redundant PLC's to ensure the availability of the system and developed an HMI and SCADA to visualize data and historical temperature records. We also set up and connected a Modbus network for data integration of NH3 compressors and installed an Industrial IoT device, adjusted for remote access and 24hs system monitoring.

The Results

The revamp and automation of the electrical panels and machine room resulted in increased efficiency, consistency, and control in the processing of food products. The implementation of the monitoring system allowed for real-time data tracking and analysis, leading to better decision-making and optimization. The client reported significant improvements in product quality, a reduction in waste, and an increase in overall productivity.
