Biomas

We designed and implemented an automated 4-effect evaporator system for the extraction of hormones.

The Client

Biomás S.A. is an argentine laboratory that produces active components for pharmaceutical companies, including gonadotropins (hormones present in the urine of menopausal and pregnant women) that are used in the manufacture of drugs for infertility treatment.

The Challenge

The client was facing significant challenges in the extraction process due to the traditional manual method they were using. The process was time-consuming and labor-intensive, leading to increased production costs and a decrease in productivity.

Additionally, the manual process resulted in inconsistent hormone quality, leading to product variability and an increased risk of batch rejection.

The Solution

We carried out the automation of a 4-effect evaporator for the extraction of hormones from urine, including the engineering, manufacturing, assembly and startup stages.

The Results

The automated system implemented by our team system reduced the extraction time from 20 hours to just 4 hours, leading to a 5x increase in productivity.

The system resulted in a consistent hormone quality, leading to a reduction in product variability and a decreased risk of batch rejection.

Overall, the automated system provided Biomás S.A. with a more efficient, reliable, and cost-effective hormone extraction process, allowing them to meet the growing demand for gonadotropins and contribute to the production of life-changing drugs for infertility treatment.
